The world-famous Poilâne bakery founded in 1932 on the fashionable rue du Cherche-Midi in Paris opened its first London shop on 46 Elizabeth Street, SW1. The London bakery and shop are a replica of its French counterpart. Since 2000 Londoners can enjoy the most celebrated old-style, handmade, thick-crusted, sourdough bread, made exclusively with wheat flour, ground by stone milling and leaven. The bread is freshly baked every day on the premises in wood-heated ovens, along with countless other delicacies which include: rye bread, nut bread, rye & raisin bread, brioches, croissants, pains au chocolat, apple tart, butter cookies, etc.
